Markt of the Meatpacking district....not to be confused with Market Cafe or Spice Market.Loud but boisterous atmosphere, similar to that of Balthazar, and fun for seeing and being seen.Long bar is a good spot for singles to hang out, have a few cold ones from the Belgian beer selection, and enjoy the eye candy working the bar.
Menu memorables: The fare is mostly Belgian, and when asked what that consists of I couldn't tell you besides moules and frites, which we ordered. The mussels come in a hot pot with a great butter/herb broth, and though the menu doesn't say they come with fries, don't be surprised when they put a little ramakin of fries next to your moules pot. I LOVE THE BELGIAN! My friend ordered the seafood bowl, kind of a New Orleans-esque jambalaya, and I ordered the steak frites. Server was friendly and sitting by the window was a bonus. Not a place for a quiet talk, but great for pre-gaming it (if you're headed to clubs in the meatpacking district) or great for a rowdy birthday bash.
