DB Bistro Moderne

DB Bistro Moderne...Daniel Boulud's more affordable restaurant in the city...a marriage of American and French cuisine...and his bar restaurant, if you will...
Great for a date night, as long as your date's a financier. Hit this place up with reservations before you go to a show..it's conveniently located in midtown..one of the few reasons to stick around the normally boring restaurant neighborhood.
My dad always said you could judge a restaurant by its bread..rings true here. They serve a mean bread plate ...just save room for the apps and main course.
Menu memorables: Duck confit was served with my German favorite..spaetzle...melt in your mouth! Colossal shrimp w/ risotto was very generous on the shrimp-front.
Go for the angel (not so devilish in calories) food cake, and try the exotic ice cream flavors...pistachio and rhubarb...
As far as drinks go..try the "bitter frenchie," if you're in the fruity drink kind of way..
